How Work Cut Christmas short
Dec. 29th, 2007 10:50 pmYes, slightly melodramatic.
So I finally went home for Christmas on the 23rd after work. Catching a train on a sunday is not fun especially when I had to wait two hours for my connection at a cold and empty station seven pm at night. Fortunately the station supermarket was open so I could get something to eat.
Lay in on Christmas eve was nice, went into town then had tea at pizza hut. Layed in on Christmas day till eight forty, which for me and my brother is late on Christmas day. Went up my Nan's got lots of nice stuff throughout the day including a new bracelet that doesn't slip over my hand (I have small wrists) a new ring, some cash, clothes. Nan came for dinner. That was good. Was disappointed by Doctor Who and Strictly Come Dancing (Gethin should have won). Had another lay in boxing day, visited my grandparents that afternoon, good fun watching my Grandad struggle with a radio control helicopter.
Had an FF12 marathon when I got back and successfully got the first esper.
Then came thursday morning and I got on the train back, arrived at work for two and didn't stop till eight. Why do shops bother having boxing day sales and opening stupidly early on the 26th and 27th. Why can't they let people enjoy Christmas rather than forcing them to work, I missed my Nan's big family gathering.
Friday Mum visited bringing up some of my Christmas stuff. Was fun as we were both suffering from nasty colds. Did a bit of shopping unfortunately theres not much in the way of reasonably priced shops where but no matter, it was a good day.
Today was even worse for my nose, I could barely utter above a hoarse whisper by the time I got to work this morning at nine so instead of sending me home or out back to do stock they put me on tills for the day. My voice did recover for the mid part of the day but started faltering by closing time. I had take out, the vegetarian special from the local Chinese for tea. I do have work tomorrow but I'm feeling quite rough and I may call in sick.
I'll see how I feel in the morning.
I've also been torrenting the latest TVN subs. It's so nice to understand all thats going on, everything makes sense, questions are answered. Keep working hard guys.
